Ah yes. the Amerika Bomber Projekt.

While yes, this HEAVILY MODIFIED Messerschmitt Me 264 might have done well, I think the Arado E.555 and Horten Ho XVIII just might have better succeeded in this role. A flying wing is just more fuel efficient, and (in time) allowed for intercontinental distance on the same amount of fuel. It also allows for internal bomb bays, which adds to the aerodynamics (which further adds fuel efficiency), and would more easily fool the early radar systems of the era.

Unfortunately, flying wings require Fly-By-Wire technology for any sort of stable manoeuvring. That, and many other required engine technologies meant that such large aerocraft with such long range were just too ahead of their time.

FUNNY, I THOUGHT THE AMERIKA BOBMER LOOKED FAR BETTER.

The Amerika Bomber was a project to develop intercontinental bombers, not aerocraft themselves. The Me-264 was simply one of the many designs submitted.

The Me-264 looked different (though you kept the fuselage). But hell with it, this is an awesome design. One rarely sees push-pull layouts, not to mention the jet-prop compound. Nice.

This is a version that was conceived by Messerschmitt but never left the drawing table. Which is kinda bad since other than the fact that it would have been used by a totallitarian, imperialist regime to terrorize innocent civilians it would have been pretty awesome.

thanks for the words and thanks for the inviting. Indeed I was part of military meshes some years ago.
I like to learn with forums, but I don't really like to be a part of them... there are a lot of people that know too much about 3D. I feel unconfortable sometimes. I'm not bad at 3D, but I'm far from good. I prefer to keep myself excluded from the "topguns".
Even so, thanks!
